Vehicle registration and title services Case Study
Vehicle-Title Research Portal for Essential Tag & Title
How a ground-up internal portal gave Essential Tag & Title one workflow for vehicle and plate research across authoritative information sources.
Situation
Essential Tag & Title began as a specialized vehicle-title and registration service created by Essential Credit Union. As the service grew, it became its own company with an internal team responsible for the careful, time-sensitive work behind vehicle transactions.
That work depends on accurate information.
Before a title or registration task can move forward, the team needs to research the vehicle, validate the details available to them, and collect the information that supports a proper next step.
The information existed across several authoritative sources. The workflow did not.
That left a business-critical process dependent on moving between systems, carrying context by hand, and making sure no important detail was missed along the way.
Justin’s Role
Justin designed and built the entire platform from the ground up.
The work included the product architecture, application design, user experience, integrations, and implementation needed to turn a fragmented research process into a focused internal tool.
This was not an adaptation of an existing title-work product. It was a purpose-built system for the way Essential Tag & Title needed to operate.
The Challenge
Vehicle-title work is exacting by nature. A team needs to move quickly, but it also needs confidence in the information supporting each decision.
The portal had to make it practical for the internal team to begin with a VIN or vehicle plate, gather the relevant information from approved sources, and use that information to support their work without exposing the underlying complexity of the process.
The challenge was not simply connecting systems.
It was creating a workflow people could trust while keeping a sensitive operational capability focused, internal, and easy to use.
The Approach
Justin shaped the application around the title team’s actual starting point: a vehicle identifier or plate number and a need for a reliable answer.
The portal brings the necessary research into one internal workflow, allowing the team to gather and review the information that matters without turning every task into a manual investigation across separate tools.
The system was intentionally designed around the team’s work rather than around the details of its integrations. The result is a focused product that supports the people doing the work while keeping the technical paths behind it appropriately contained.
At the time of the build, Justin was not aware of another system that combined this particular workflow into a single internal portal.
The Result
The portal is actively used by the Essential Tag & Title internal team today.
It gives the business a dedicated operational capability for title work: one built for its own workflow, rather than a generic system that asks the team to work around its limitations.
The value is not just faster research. It is a more consistent path from a vehicle or plate lookup to the information needed to support the next decision.
For a company that was established to make vehicle registration and title work simpler, that internal clarity matters.
Why It Matters
Some of the most valuable software is invisible to the public.
Customers may only see a faster, more confident service experience. The business sees something more durable: a system that gives its team a specialized capability, reduces dependence on scattered process, and supports the work it was created to do.
This project is a strong example of Justin’s ability to build a complete product from an operational need:
- Understand the work before designing the solution
- Build the architecture and the application end to end
- Translate complex information flow into a usable workflow
- Create software that becomes part of how the business delivers its service
